Can the employee be held legally responsible for personal harm to someone, caused by following a direct order

Question:
Is there a Law that protects a worker who is given a direct order to do something that may jepordize someones health, or is immoral, or unethical and they refuse?
Mother's in a senior home. She is under contract with health care provider #1, but not #2. BOTH IN HOUSE CARE. With an emergency call, the management sends #2 and tries to bill her. Because of company politics, they refuse to call #1. When #2 arrives, she requests they get company #1, which she is contracted with. They are under orders from management, to turn off the call light and NOT notify the proper health provider. This is an attempt to get the residents to switch to their health care provider of choice, via scare tactics.
I don't believe the employees want to do this, but they want to keep their jobs. This is where the question lies. Do they have to follow this order? If not, are they protected from wrongful discharge and have legal recourse?
There has got to be a LAW !! What is it?

Answer:
Sounds pretty illegal period...sounds like someone would go to jail for endangering an elderly persons life..it's called elder abuse...it may not be physical but there are diffent forms of abuse.physical, financial, mental.
Contact the county health dept. to report it.
Makes you wonder how many people actually died because they were not able to call for help.whistle blowers are protected.
yes.if it is a potentially harmful act,the employee should use his or her discretion.
one cannot just say i was following orders, especially trained personnel who know better.
Write all this to your local Congressman.
You ever hear of the Nuremburg trials?

Enough said.
Yes. See the results of Nuremberg, Hiroshima, Florida, Oklahoma, Bosnia, Capetown, Harare, Viet Nam, Darfur and now Baghdad. Colonialism was propelled and built on blaming the crazy killers for murder, then stealing the land opened up by the useful murderers. Consider Columbus' first wave of raping and pillaging degenerates, suspiciously followed by unrelated priests and family men, happy to build on the empty plots.

These are all sites of war crimes committed by surrogates of monsters.

Fear and greed, desperation and ignorance are not masks to hide the empty husk of the murderer's fearful core.
