Six Sigma is based on the DMAIC acronym.
Define
Measure
Improve
Control

The first step of any project will be defining what you need to do or scope the problem.
I would expect the consultant to define the problem by working with the client and scope the study, outling what he proposes to do and when he proposes to do it by. Scoping the problem is critical, since it lays the ground work for everything that follows.

Identifying solutions without getting a thorough undertanding of the problem will wasate a lot of time.

Why is there too much manual input? What problems is it creating in terms of cost, volume and quality control?

How much capital can you raise? What alternatives have you already considerted? What are other companies in your industry doing?
