Question:
This is a long story... Basically, last march I left my Job to finsih off my degree as I had a lot of work on and was also working 22 hours a week on a helpdesk for the NHS. I've now finished my degree and my ex boss rang me to say that my job was coming up and he thought it would be a good idea for me to apply for it (basically saying to me that if I applied for the job he would give it to me) I applied and I had the interview today which went really really well. But then he rings me and tells me that I didn't get the job because I lost a couple of points on 2 of the questions. However, one of the questions he asked me was not asked to any of the other candidates. The question was "What would you do differently in the job this time round?" What should I do? As the questions are all meant to be the same for every candidate. Should I ring him back and ask him about it or get the NHS human resources involved? or just forget about it?
Answer:
I think that he sounds like a very awkward man and now that you have finished your degree, you can be more choosy!
I too have left work to finish my degree and there is abolutely no way that I would go back to any of my old jobs. I am aiming higher this time and I think you should do yourself justice and do the same.
Go for it and who knows where you might end up!! Good luck whatever you decide to do!!
I would just forget about it and look for another job. If you start asking questions, it will put all of them on the defense. Even if you could force them to give you the job, it probably would not be a good work enviroment for you to be in. Look for something better.
if all the questions are supposed to be the sdame for everyone;
i would call him and ask him about it
then get nhs involved
doesnt sound fair to me.
One of my friends has gone through a similar situation. She was interviewed three times for a position that should've been given to her, but each time it was given to someone else.
Whatever the real reason is, you don't deserve this. Look for a better position using your recently earned degree.
The guy sounds like a real jerk. He probably wanted you to say, "I wouldn't quit my job." Forget about it and move on to better things.
