No door between my room and my (shared) bathroom--soundproofing help?

Question:
My roommates and I are renting a great house from a couple that would not appreciate us doing major construction--like adding a full door. We share a bathroom, which is technically "in" my bedroom (you enter the bathroom first), and there is no door between that space and my bedroom space. The opening is fairly narrow, with extremely high ceilings. I'm open to installing curtains, a "fake" door, screens--anything that is fairly simple and as sound/vision proof as possible. For curtains, a specific material recommendation would be very welcome! I don't want to spend a fortune, but I do value my privacy! Thanks!

You're not going to get too much soundproofing with any curtain arrangement. You can sew your own curtains, like you would make for any window, but use a thicker material and make it long enough to cover the doorway.
You could also try one of those folding screens to block off direct viewing and help deflect noise, if you have the extra space.
Go buy an accordian door. About $40-50 in a home center. Goes up with a few screws.
