I think the first thing you should try is to boot it in safe mode by pressing F8 key while booting, and choosing safe mode from the menu that appears on the screen.

If booting in safe mode works, do a system restore to a date that it worked properly. If this doesnt help, I would say one of two things is bad... either your hard drive or RAM
I've had a SIMILAR problem with my XP computer, but unfortunately, it pretty much just died. Basically, if you can't get it into Safe Mode (which is really bad), then you should call a professional to come and look at it. If they can't fix it, or if you need to throw it away (like I did), you should try to find out if you can save all your files from your internal hard drive unless you don't want them anymore (doubtful...). I'm related to an engineer, so I was able to save all of my files onto an external USB drive. That's all the help I can give you, though.

Yeah, always happened to me.
There sre two possibilities here:
1. Hardware failure
2. Driver missing
My solution is to reinstall everything from scratch.
You must be doing some hard ware changing or install new sofware, be careful when you do that!

boot your computer in safe mode then check it by anti viruse.
