Not quite, you really have one physical processor, this is only one chip. However, the architecture of this processor is different in the sense that you have a dual processing core inside the chip.
Early processors used to take advantage of special algorithms in order to process data in ways closes to the way two separate processors could. In the Dual core you have data been separated in chunks and been process by the cores getting you a better performance.
The clearest advantage is that you have more micro operations in a clock cycle. This means you get more done in every cycle. So a computer with a faster clock cycle may not execute the same amount of micro operations in the same period of time.
