Charitable act for Christmas?
Question:
I get a list from a retirement home, of those who have little or no families/friends, who would like a Christmas card. Then I send each of them a card, and I share the list with my close friends. I've even given this facility any extra Thanksgiving turkeys I have, sometimes cookies I've baked etc...
My husband even got in on the idea and donated a big screen TV we wanted to replace, with a newer styel. They have it now in their entertainment room.
They do craft bazaars every year so when I have unused craft supplies, or items they can sell, I donate those too.
They are so sweet - they remember me each year when I call for the list of names. One year they even invited me to come take a tour of their facility.
You know, we all could end up in a place like that someday. Really makes me think!
Answer:
I volunteer for a non-profit teen mom program that operates in my community. I take the volunteer meeting minutes every month and help out with special events: Mother's Day Tea and the Christmas Luncheon. I help by supplying an appetizer or sweet and donating door prizes so every mom gets a little gift.
I have the most fun at Christmas. I'm donating at least 10 door prizes including gift certificates for groceries & coffee plus cute Christmas towels with a snowman candle holder & chocolates wrapped up with a pretty bow.
maby sing christmas carols to the elderly?
My hat is off to you! It would be nice if everyone in the world were as kind as you. Happy holidays!
Thats so nice of you. For me, every year I usually go to Target or Toys R Us and buy about $50 worth of toys to donate to Toys for Tots. You can buy alot of toys with not alot of money, and make alot of childrens christmas a little brighter. Its so fulfilling when you give to others.
Happy Holidays and God bless.
There are organizations that send christmas gifts to children in third-world countries. You could donate something nice that a poor child could never have seen or afforded. Either a huge box or crayons or a warm fleece with pockets would be my first choice, but you might come up with something better.
We support our local Children's hospital. However, they have brought to our attention that they receive a great deal of donations and attention at Christmastime. Everyone remembers others during the holidays. I hope that you remember these people in, say, June or July when they may be lonely and needing some extra love. Our hospital has requested donations at other times, so the giving will be stretched out instead of one huge flurry of giving with nothing the other eleven months of the year.
