How do screensavers help protect your computer screen?
Question:
Well, no sh1t I already f^cking knew this b1tch, but the Dell Automatic Update also stated that the computer screen is more vulnerable to damage without a screensaver. How is this true and possible?
Answer:
Screensavers used to be necessary to protect your screen from screenburn...where the image/words on the screen were burned into the screen if left on too long. This is no longer necessary. Most people who use screensavers do it either for privacy issues (as you mentioned) or because they just like whatever picture/animation they've chosen.
It saves pixel and electricity I actually thought that was really weird when I found that out
Older computers had a problem that if you kept the monitor on for an extended period of time, the dekstop image would burn itself into the monitor. this is especially common with old CRT monitors. I love to see this... Computers is turned off and monitor is black but you can still see IE.
LCD monitors and newer CRT monitors don't suffer from this problem as much.
