the memory is different(not shared-shared) also the mhz of the rams are different.
the motherboard on the XPS is better than the one on the Inspiron, since the mother board is one of the most expensive parts, then i guess that's why the XPS is more expensive. also the XPS has some lights on it and is more stylish which makes it a little bit more expensive comparing it to the Inspiron.
As mentioned, Inspiron has 2GB shared at 533Mhz and XPS has its "dedicated" at 667Mhz. That's probably why...
XPS laptops are more "stylish" I guess and are said to have good perfomance too.
I personally own an HP laptop and my configuration is pretty close to yours...
