What is the point of arguing religion?
Question:
I believe in God's love and would be happy to share what I have in the Lord with anyone who ask's.I am not a Bible thumper and I am not a preacher.I don't sit there and quote scripture-at least not unless someone uses it for their own interpretations and hate.
But I ask, why is it that people seem so dead set on forcing their views?Why say God exists and I am right because it says so in the Bible or God doesn't exists because there is no real proof except a bunch of man made writings?Why argue your view when you're not going to change anyone else's view and probably just make another enemy.Or, to put it better, "Why can't we all just get along?".
And yes, it is possible to love God and still dislike Bush if you noticed my screen name.

Its just funny to see how people will deny truth right in front of their face, because the believe something.
I like to see the intellectual side of it, but most people cant have an intelligent conversation, because they get mad.
Funny, religion is suppose to be peace, and love, and all that, and they are always the first one to toss their fists up in anger !

you're right. you won't change anyone's view when arguing religion. i guess some people just like to argue anything. others consider it more of a 'debate', (more adult name for argument). i know people who debate religion just for the sake of bouncing ideas off of one another and they find enjoyment in the heat of the battle, rather than anger. good clean fun, i suppose.
Because people like to flaunt and show how better they think the are than everyone else. This is very common in this place. Look at any of the religious questions and you will see the one-side and loaded questions these hypocritcs ask. I liked your question
Because I like to! discuss religion. You practically wrote a book. Then tell us not to. The bible quotes are necessary. I don't want someones opinion. I want proof.

B/c there's always hope that someone will read some particular thing and think, 'Oh, well I never thought of that...' and start doing their own research and come up with a different opinion.
I heard a quote today from some ? that said 'After the final 'No' comes a 'Yes' and'...something about humankind doing what's best for themselves. So, I guess that much is true...Hope never dies :-)
The Apostle Paul tells christians to earnestly contend for the faith. We should always be ready to give a reason for the hope that is within. If your beliefs are not worth defending, then perhaps they're not worth having. Personally, I love the study of apologetics. It helps with the answers for which many people search.
There's no point when it comes to Christianity. The bible speaks against it. People are so angry with others because others don't see that their beliefs or views are truthful.

If one never sees a difference in opinion how is one supposed to learn tolerance of others. Disagreements in opinions when done with respect open the mind towards acceptance of others and their opinions; and because you do that doesn't mean you change your opinion but you do grow as a person.
