Laptop is dead??

Question:
Alright, so this is how it is: There is something seriously wrong with my laptop. It turns on normally and everything, and the log on screen pops up. I share it with my sister, so there are two accounts you can log into. After I log into my account (my sister's doesnt work, either) nothing happens. No icons, nothing. The programs run if you hit ctrl, alt, delete, and you choose run new program. But nothing shows up once I log on! The background screen shows up, but no icons, no start, nothing! This is a pretty new laptop (bought in Nov., but the warranty is up.). The last time I used it, I left it on AIM. Then when I turned it on again, nothing happened. Is it possible for someone to have sent a virus or something through AIM? I have looked on many websites, and cant seem to find the answer. Please help!

Answer:
Sounds like a virus. Try this.

When u boot your laptop up, let it sit there for 10 mins or so till something comes up, if there are no icons, then...

-Click the windows key
-Click RUN
-Type in MSCONFIG then click OK
-Locate STARTUP tab then click on it
-Find DISABLE ALL at bottom of screen then select
-click APPLY

From there your laptop will reboot and apply the settings. What this does is disables all programs from trying to load when you start up, including the hidden virus. When your laptop restarts again, run a virus scan and hopefully it'll pull out the virus from that.
its a virus
i know wat it does
it makes ur desktop blank and disables ctrl + alt + del
so that makes you mad :P
try a full system scan
I used to use AIM and found that there are a lot of hackers that will get into your system if you leave it logged on.
I recently had to re-format my HD because a hacker got in and totally messed up my system. I lost a ton of stuff and was really put out by the whole thing.
If I were you I would wipe the hard drive and start from scratch. When you get it built again, remember to log off of AIM.
Good luck
someone has deleted the master-boot settings put in the windows xp disk and boot with disk and restore PC until it worked fine hope this help, same thing happened to me anyways hope this helps you :D have a great day

It sounds like you have a serious virus or trojan problem. What I would do is reformat the hard drive an reinstall your operating system.
