When you submit urine for a drug screen, do they just test for drugs?
Question:
they also test a microorganism
What else would they be testing for?
yes (drugs and usually alcohol) they do not do medical testing on your urine screen
yea ^^^ some test for other things. lol.
Typically yes. You have to read the form you sign authorizing it. How detailed it is depends on what the employer is looking for and what he is willing to pay for the tests. There are different tests and the costs differ
don't work there===but know they check for many more things then drugs in your blood=a few items are =sugar=thyroid=hiv=cancer=iron levels=white cells=red cells=(amount)=blood level=hope this is of some help
In our facility we have two types of testing. One we do at the facility and it tests for the common drugs, cocain, barbituates, marijuana, etc. the other is a send out and test a wider range of drugs. you can run a toxicology screen and specify a test for heavy metals, cyanide ect. It just depends on what is suspected.
That is my understanding.
And it has to do with money and time. If the doctor only ordered a urine analysis for Drugs then that's what the lab tech will do. It would be unethical to run other test that were not ordered by the doctor. And it would be a violation of your privacy. Any test they do on you, should be explained to you before is done, most require your consent. In other words you have to give permission. Unless you are a minor or a kid then your parent calls the shots and you have no say so.
And besides these test are expensive. Would you pay for an extra test that was done and your doctor didn't order? Would the insurance company? I DON'T THINK SO!!! I wouldn't
As a truck driver testing is required ever so often. They
also check the temperature. Poppy seeds will cause one
to fail.
Yes...they only test for drugs. If you are concerned about other problems...like HIV's. or STD's ... GO now and get tested for that! There is NO stupid question. Treatments are right there if you ask for them! Hugs, Gina C.
