Question:
Hi, I am using Microsoft Windows Vista: Home Premium edition. I have enabled media sharing on my network on both my computer (windows vista pc) and my other computer (windows xp pc). I have turned it on on both on WMP11, but for some reason I can see the windows xp media in WMP11, but on the media sharing screen, it doesn't show the PC. All I see is "Other users of this PC" "Unknown Device", the unknown device is my PlayStation 3, and "Xbox 360". The Windows XP PC says "Matt-PC" (which is my computer), "Unknown Device", and "Xbox 360", but even thought it shows my PC as "Allow", it does not show the media in WMP11 when I open it, but on my Vista PC it will show all the media from the Windows XP PC. Does anyone know what the problem is with this? Thanks!
Answer:
You could just take the media files off the other computer and move them onto your computer with Vista. They should show up in your Network Places thing.
The XP computer might not be able to see Vista as something it can send media to. Knowing Microsoft it's possible they didn't make XP (very) compatable with Vista
