What is going on in Palestine?

Question:

When I was a kid, I dutifully learned from the American media that the Palestinians were terrorists and that the Irsaelis were beseiged victims.

One day, while passing this on to my sons as part of homeschooling, our oldest said - WHY do the Palestinians do this? I said, "Let's find out."

My 14 yo homeschooled son made a few movies to share what he learned. The one above is his latest. This was his first, about Palestine since the Intifada

which for an old lady like me must be watched on full screen mode to read the text.

Here's my favorite that he's made asking questions about Palestine:

So, did you know these things? Do they square with what you were always taught? If not, why not? If yes, where did you get your education?

Answer:
Nice of you to submit this all over YA. And you did the same thing some months ago.

Actually, the Muslim terrorists in Gaza seem very effective at eliminating one another. In the last 24 hours Arabs have murdered over 50 other Arabs in Gaza.

Their newest tactic is to tie up a fellow Muslim and throw him off a skyscraper.

Perhaps they are doing the work for the West.

The whole "Palestinian People" is made up, just to try to eliminate Israel. The Land of Israel is the biblical home of the Jewish People, and the Jewish People have maintained a presence there continuously.

If you were naive enough to believe what you hear on the news and media, you would think there is an entity called a "Palestinian people," who lived in a "country/state/area" called Palestine since Canaanite/Biblical/Muslim times. You would almost believe that the Israelis occupied "Palestine" in 1967. And you might even think that the Palestinians want the occupiers out of their land. And of course, you might feel, they are entitled to do whatever it takes to get their land back. No? No. Not at all, Here are the facts.

Who are the Palestinians? Palestinians are Arabs. They have no historical, national or cultural identity distinct from other Arabs of the region. Most of them came into Palestine in search of economic opportunities after World War I when the British and the Jews began to build up a land that was moribund.

What is Palestine? When the Romans conquered Judea, they renamed it Palestine. Since then, no occupying power ever made it an independent state or established a capital in Jerusalem. Under the Ottoman Empire, it was part of the province of Syria.

After World War I, the area was mandated to Britain to establish a Jewish national home. Instead, in 1922, Britain split off 75% of Palestine to establish the Emirate of Transjordan, as a throne for the Arabian Hashemite family.

The UN decided to split the remaining 25% of Palestine between Jews and Arabs. In 1948, five Arab armies attacked the newborn State of Israel. Transjordan annexed the area intended for an Arab state, and renamed itself the Kingdom of Jordan, calling the annexed area the West Bank. Egypt took over Gaza. No Arab suggested making the West Bank and/or Gaza into yet another Arab state until 1967, when Israel was again attacked by the Arabs and took these areas.

Both are in often in the wrong.
Well, what I've always heard from the media is the Palestinians were driven off their land by the Jews and all they want is their land back. But the fact is it was partitioned and the Palestinians wanted all of it and attacked the Jews and were defeated.

The current events illustrate the problem. The terrorist cannot be reasoned with and settle all their differences with violence. The land for peace deal did not produce peace only increased the violence. Now in Gaza the Palestinians are dealing with each other the same way they deal with the Israelis by killing each other. I have no sympathy for them at all. Remember they danced in the streets after 9/11. I won't forget that.
Dear apologist...

The reason for this situation is simple...If you know history.

1948...Israel is formed in the area granted to them by the UN.
1949...Israel defends itself from attack on multiple fronts from arab armies.
1949...same arab armies leaflet Israel to tell muslims that the attack is coming and to flee Israel...

The left Israel and the Arabs lost. Israel wouldnt let them back in because they saw them for the traitors that hey were.

Now you know why there is a "palestine"
looking at some answers above, to put it another way-

Zionists had their minds set on the territory well before the horrors of WWII.
1917 Balfour Declaration and Jewish immigration under the British mandate. Brits wanted a client state to protect their economic interests in the Middle-East. Palestinians were not to be consulted about the shift of power along ethnic lines in their homeland, but their rights were not supposed to be eroded as they have steadily been.
Historically, Jews are a displaced people but that can never justify the terrorisation, displacement and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.

Current conflict between Palestinian factions is a tragedy that has erupted from the systematic impoverishment of an entire population within their own land. These people have been cut-off from fertile land, water, employment and each other and are increasingly marginalised behind the apartheid wall.
Palestinian civilians are protesting in the streets to end the armed conflict.
Look the UN created both Palestine and Israel. The issue is Israel want to keep occupying land that was never part of Israel and there is not one single country is willing to recognize that occupied land is part of Israel. Is it anti-Semitic or anti-Israeli to say Palestine has the right to exist too.A viable Palestine means a viable Israel and no viable Palestine means no viable Israel and wars go on between the two people.
Occupying other people by force is losing policy in the past and now and has no future. No one could NOT change his mind unless he has no mind.
