Has anyone ever been exposed on more then 1 or 2 occasions to the weed killer Round-up n if so what symptoms?
Question:
Answer:
A relative of mine was exposed to dursban, which is an insect killer in close relation to the chemical found in Round Up. Now she is sensitive to Round Up when exposed.
She didn't have a rash or upset stomach. She had the following symptoms
Blurred Vision
Lost of Taste
Minor Tongue Swelling
Headache
Minor Amnesia
Dizziness
Minor Hallucinations
I'd get her to the doctor's office and have her tested for chemical exposure. If your office is not open tomorrow, or the symptoms worsen, take her to the closest hospital and have her checked out in the ER.
This sounds terrible. That is ALOT of exposure and I hope that everything works out okay.
Once resolved, she might have slight reactions to household chemicals, but there should not be any lasting damage.
Good Luck.
no
Why are you asking this on AnswersRoom.com? She is ill, and needs to be seen by a doctor, as soon as possible. If she is presently experiencing the symptoms you describe, she needs to go to the Emergency Room NOW. Organophosphate poisoning can be serious - don't wait.
Odd, I'd call the police too to report such problems
Although, I really find using it as a gardening tool, that it can cause headaches, watery eyes and itchy skin.
I always make sure I use protection (gloves, mask, glasses) & take a really good scrubbing in the shower afterwards.
If she thinks its on purpose, it is with a trip to the local police department to fill out a report. As well, call a pharmacist & double check with the. or go to the doctor (which btw will help the police report)
Roundup is chemically based on a compound known as glyphosate. When Roundup is sprayed on undesired weeds, glysophate penetrates inside the plant cells and works to block the activity of an enzyme called EPSPS.
This enzyme is involved in the synthesis of certain amino acids that are essential for plant protein production and therefore are crucial for growth and survival.
In essence, the presence of glysophate rapidly leads to the death of the weed.
Furthermore, one of the greatest advantages of this system is that EPSPS, the enzyme inhibited by glysophate, is present in plants and bacteria but not in animals.
As a result, the Roundup herbicide is harmless to any human or wild animal that may consume it. In fact, because of its efficiency and its specificity, Roundup is one of the most widely approved herbicides around the world.
Depends on the mixture-
when I was 18,I worked for Ames Plantation(National Bird-Dog Event) this involved performing farmwork. Well when we sprayed fence lines we had to go get certified by Osha just to spray fences. Reason being is that we had concentrated round-up, when we sprayed we had to wear a Respirator, jumpsuit, and gloves. as a young man this seemed like an over kill. Needless to say sometimes we would have excess spray all over us, I'm 31 now and I don't have any repercussions.
but in your case seek medical advice- and as for as cleaning up the extra roundup contact your local athorities before watering down the excess spray.
