I want to know if people agree on my universal definition of God.?
Question:
Answer:
Very well said. I know alot of intelligent and respected people who think this way. I personally like it because it isn't an ignorant christian god who is in mans image. How can the most powerful and loving being be just a man. It was created by the women fearing men of the past.
Interesting parent combo by the way. That is very interesting how it may have affected your beliefs.
I do believe that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. Life is a dream. Death is an illusion. We are all eternal.
It's not universal if its your definition.
Yes you have it just right!
Try looking up 'pantheism'. The modern 'pantheists' believe something along those lines.
I prefer to let God speak for himself.
The Bible is God's revelation to man. I let that be my guide.
I agree with you.
I disagree. When you say believing in yourself is the same as believing in God, you limit God to your own meager existence. Peace.
Nope, I don't agree.
i have a migrane so i'll just say yes
*thumbs up* =D
Yours is the God of the Greek Philosophers. The God of the Bible is a personal God who has feelings, gets angry or happy, is pleased with people and things, intervenes in the personal lives of people, can be heard and seen, who created humans in his image, and is an anthropomorphic being with face, hands, feet, etc. The God you describe is not the God of the Bible or tradition. The God you describe is as much Nothing as he is Something.
I am afraid you are a tad self contradictory -
"Seems to me personifying God is degrading the true greatness of God. "
Yet that's what you did a few lines further on -
"All souls are really one, so believing in yourself is the same as believing in God."
- hmmm...so believing in *yourself* is the same, when a few lines before this you also said 'If God is to exist, God is a powerful force, God is the universe, he is everything that surrounds us, we have just yet to realize' ----?
So are you equating belief in self with belief in God?
Aren't you belittling God when at the same time you say God is so great?
Sorry, I don't share your view on God because I don't think you have really figured it all out yet.
Pretty close.
I just think it is all part of God - the visible and invisible, the good, the bad and the ugly, every atom, molecule and the space in-between them. We just get a chance to interact it and poke around, ask questions and make up our own answers.
With that said, everything is the same regardless of what I believe.
Identifying personification was one of my first steps toward enlightenment. If god is everything then he is also the personification of himself.
You are to young to have a preset conclusional view on God. He is closer then you think and is very much interested in your life and development, you are being watched remember that. I remember having the same types of thoughts as you when I was in my teens, you have much to learn about the Father. Some of your views are correct in the oneness of things that surround us, but do not by into a false view of God because he is here if you reach for him. He really is with you.
