Is it a good deal for $650? I just require it for college and play music & movies
Answer:
The other people pointed out that this is a good deal, I would have to say this is not good or bad, just an average deal.
Why? The Pentium Dual Core is the oldest and slowest of the Pentium Dual core with the Core Duo and Core 2 Duo being newer. It will certainly run Vista just fine and be no problem for movies, music and college.
The GMA 950 is sluggish for video performance and has big issues with compatability for games.
As for brand I like Toshiba, I like it and have one myself.
So, I like the machine and would recommend the machine but $660 seems a touch on the high side. Not overly so, but I have seen better deals. At that price tag I would currently look at these two models:

This is a satellite A200 -- so newer model in the Toshiba line. Has one of the fastest AMD processors which would not be up to Intel's newer processors but will be faster than the Dual core here. Has a bigger hard drive at 200GB and a much better video solution in the ATI x1200.

Same processor, video, memory, operating system for $549 (you lose a bit of hard drive space but should still be okay)
Good deal!
i own a Toshiba and had nothing but trouble with it and i have two friends with Toshiba's both different models and years and they have trouble to
Thats a Steal! I just recently purchased one of them from Bestbuy. It only had 512mb of Ram and a 80 Gig hardrive. I believe the regular price is the same as what you paid. I had to go back to the store and buy on sale a 1 gig memory stick (1.5 gig total memory after upgrade). Luckily it had a single 512 stick not two 256 sticks.. The regular price of a 1gig memory stick costs about $80 to $100, and you wont need to buy one, unless you feel its a big sluggish.
I also believe my version of Vista wasn't premium. Home basic.
I'm so jealous you got a better deal than me.
Of course it's a good laptop. I have a Toshiba Satellite M65-S9092, and I love it. In my opinion, Toshiba makes the best laptops.
