I want to by a DVD Projector?
Question:
Answer:
If you are wanting to use this outside, lumens (the measure of brightness) is everything. You need something that'll give you at least 3500 lumens, otherwise you will get a very pale picture. And of course, the higher the lumens, the higher the cost.
On an unrelated note, I would recommend going for a dlp projector instead of an lcd. In the long run, they maintain their picture better (in my opinion, and dlp is the kind I currently own, after having an lcd previously).
i use an optoma HD70, you can hook pretty much anything up to it like a laptop or DVD player. I use it mostly for sports and movies, it works well with my homemade screen, if you need a big size you might want to consider how much light will be present and what material you will be projecting on. i really like mine and i got it for 899 on sale at bestbuy. our uses may be a little different but thought i'd give a suggestion
You don't need anything close to 3500 lumens to project outside. We have an outdoor theater that's 24' wide and have been showing movies for years.
Because I have to throw the pic like 40' I use the Epson S4 for its long throw distance, but if you're screen is going to be 8X8 I'd recommend the following. You can get the all between $500 - $700 bucks. The guy 2 above has the Optoma HD70 which is an awesome projector.
I would also recommend that you make your screen in the 16:9 ration so you can enjoy movies and such. Here's a link to a site with alot of outdoor theater suggestions, and also a link to some good pj's.
