Is it possible to use Remote Desktop (or a similar program) to access another user within THE SAME COMPUTER??

Question:
I would like to connect to another session of my computer to be able to see and manipulate it as if I had two users sharing the same screen. There's not a "subip" or something like that... is it?

Thank you!

Answer:
As in , You want to run 2 different profiles simultaneously on the same PC ?
Not unless that PC is a Terminal server.
You can't do it under plain old Windows XP / Vista
This is a licencing as well as technical issue.
I can't even imagine why you would want to try that...

Have you tried using 127.0.0.1 instead of the normal IP?
Yes it is possible. Here's the theory:

Calling PC cannot have the same IP address as that of the Called PC. This case can only arise if the PC tries to connect itself. Instead, you can have two Network cards to have two IPs in the same network. If you somehow connect another network card and resolve all the sharing violations caused by the confusion in multiple networks, you can connect to the same PC.
I assume this question is purely educational, as it is worthless to connect to the same PC. Instead, you can use the Switch User facility of WinXP to do it, which does not terminate the running programs.
If you are using Windows 2003 server, you can have this.
Enable Remote Desktop Connection in the properties of MY COMPUTER

START > RUN > MSTSC
Enter localhost in the computer name
click on connect.
You will get the second desktop.

Cheers!
