I want to share my files on 2 computers on my wireless network what do I need to do?
Question:
Both computers run Windows XP both are running good.
------------------------------...
I went to 'MY Network Places' then I clicked on 'Add A Network Place' and the 'Add A Network Place Wizard' popped up. I clicked 'Next' and the wizard pops the next screen 'Where do you want to create this network place?" and I am given the option of clicking on 'Next'. In the input bar I enter my network address the name of my network '\\corknpop\SharedDocs' then I click 'Next'.
Then in my Local Network window I have a folder that appears called 'SharedDocs on corknpop'. I open the folder and see 4 other folders reading My Music,My Pictures,Shared Files,Shared Video. The crux of my problem is: how do I get these folders to appear on my second computer on my wireless network so that when I add files to these folders they appear on the other computer so I can swap files over?
Any help much appreciated
u just copy ur data to 'shared Docs' in 1st pc
den, open 'run' in da 2nd pc & type da ip address of dat 1st pc
such as- "\\192.168.1.0" (ur 1st pc address)

Step:
1. Open windows explorer

5. uncheck "use simple file sharing"

mapped drive:
right click at the shared folder from the network neigborhood, select mapped drive
Sounds like what you've already done you should've done on the second computer instead.
On the first computer, you should make sure any folders you want to be shared ARE shared. Right click 'em and go to Properties, then Sharing tab.
You may also need to allow the username that's logged into the second computer to be allowed access to the first computer. This must be done on the first computer. Under Control Panel, go to Users (or Users and Passwords). Set up a user with the same username that you have logged in on computer #2. Then, you can right click the folder(s) you want to share (you're still on the first computer), select Properties, then Security, and click Add, scroll down through the list, select them, click Add, then OK.
Hope that solves your problem!
first, make sure your 2 PCs are in the same WORKGROUP (i.e. same workgroup name). next, turn off windows firewall on both computers. believe me, it happens to me many times and it is frustrating. just these 2 things and you should be able to see your shared folder on the other computer.. hope that helps!
