Will major TV/cable networks broadcast over the Internet?
Question: For example, will shows such as "The Simpsons" stream (with advertising) on a website created by Fox?

This is coming very fast in North America. I predict 4-5Mbps web TV to start to become popular in less than 2 years. Major ISPs are currently upgrading their broadband connections's max throughput to allow for it. Here there are regions that can get 16Mbps ADSL, this is pretty nice! Although a bit expensive.
Of course they (ISPs) will have the big end of the bat here because they can guarantee more stability to the connection throughput and many of them are already in the TV broadcasting business.
It is pretty likely that instead of buying TV tuners for our PCs, in a couple of years TVs will have an Ethernet adapter.

Stars channel is already streaming through Real player, so yeah, I'd say they will very soon.
I would say eventually they probably all will. There are a lot of networks now that broadcase shows over the net such as MTV, VH1, The-N.com, and there are stations broadcasting already over Real and Windows media player. Most stations that have news also broadcast the news over the net.
They are doing it now, some are advertising supported and can be downloaded for free, streaming vids. Others are available for a fee, usually a dollar or so.
Mostly they are shows that have been shown over the air already.
I think they are testing the waters just now, to see if they can increase the audience, and therefore advertising revenue.
If they get enough people to watch, then they will add more shows. It's all about the money. if it pays them, they will do it.
This may happen in the future because more and more families are purchasing broadband internet connections and High Definition sets. I am sure that the monitors will also be bigger in size if such a case does really happen. Then maybe people will be able to watch "TV" on their computer thus leading to the demise of the television.

i know for sure the soaps power rangers and other cartoon characters and some shows just go to fox network.com and see what happens
There is NO REASON they dont do it know except for $$. They have more than enough bandwidth to do so at any time they want. But why do that when they can charge for cable AND internet.
