For a data center for a small CDN, what computer should i use, hours of human administration, aprox costs.?
Question: CDN content delivery network (streaming video, audio)
I need to know what kind of computer to use in the editing, encodig, of the video content. how much could it cost.
Personal (7 x 24)? / 8 hours dialy? / other, wich could be the pay?
I need aproximated numbers, if anyone can help me with these.

for the editing you will need the fastest computer with best graphics card (lots of ram in both) (preferrably an amd 64 bit or intel 64 bit operating system (editing and encoding videos is a very time comsuming practice and you probably want better than real time performance (1 hour of video requireing 1 hour of processing) .. you will also want to have very fast large SATA2 hard drives in a raid 1 configuration for the editing (disk transfer speed is a bottleneck)
once the programming is done there should be very little maintenance.. you're probably looking at anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 million in startup costs.
For the Server windows2k3 server web edition will be sufficient to serve windows streaming media (its built in).. If properly set up the administration time will be minimal (you might want to cluster another server if your server becomes bogged down. You will have to look at your bandwidth costs (consider using akami as they will give you the best price / terrabyte but they don't come cheap) and the terrabytes of transfer will very quickly be eaten away.. 300 kb/s video * number of concurrent connections and it adds up rather quickly.. Redundant t1's will be a minimum.
The pay will be whatever the market will bear.. as you will be setting the pricing.. remember content is king and the higher the price the lower the # of customers..
