How do I stop my laptop wireless connection dropping when i close the laptop lid?
Question: Hi I have a new HP pavilion laptop with wireless network built in. It used to go into Hibernate when I shut the lid, but I went into the Power part of Control Panel and changed it to do nothing. However - when I shut the lid the wireless connection (802.11g) to the home network drops (suspends, the machine drops off the network). I stream music to the stereo from the laptop with the lid open, and i want it to keep doing so when i close the lid.
Answer:
Check your BIOS settings.
check the BIOS settings and check Display Properties > Screen Saver > Power > Advanced > Power Buttons
Disable IEEE 8.011X in wireless peoperties
Network troubleshooting always starts with the hardware devices you are using and the cables that connect them. The process is the same with Wi-Fi networks.

I think your laptop will always go into sleep mode when you close the lid, no problem though you can't use the wireless with the lid closed, and it will activate when you open again. It might take a few seconds to happen, but what else you have to do
If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
