Do any of you find this to be Stupid if not Hilarious?
Question: May 1st the illegal Mexicans and their supporters are going to boycott all American business even the ones they themselves work for. Students, that are just taking up desk space in class,aren't going to school.
Then on May 5th they want us to celebrate with them "Cino de Mayo", victory over the French Army 1862.
What part of stupid are they? Boycott Boycott Boycott.
I have a American/ Mexican friend who owns a Mexican Resturant, she is closing oN May 5th and 6th. Has already put up signs with a message why and her patons and local business support her.

I don't recall being expeceted to celebrate Cinco de Mayo...in fact in most of Mexico it's not celebrated. It's basically another American excuse to get drunk and stupid, much like St. Patrick's Day has become. Among my Mexican friends, the only one who is "celebrating" the fifth is doing so by spending the evening bussing tables at a Mexican restaurant to accomodate the influx of Corona-drinking, salsa spilling gringos. I'll be spending Cinco anywhere BUT in a Mexican restaurant.
Good for her, but I doubt you're going to get all the dumb, drunk Americans to boycott Cinquo de Mayo, a holiday most of them know nothing about save that it is an occasion to drink.
I do not support the boycott. Bottom line in my opinion is that if they are here illegally, they are breaking the law. If they want to come over here and work, they can do like the others and get their permits, etc.
I think that is outrageous. Why is that ok? Don't we live in America? Why should we allow people to boycott America? It is sooo sad that we've allowed our country to get this way.
Thats not stupid. If you remember during the civil rights movement in the 1960's blacks boycotted too so they could have equal rights just like other Americans. In this case illegal immigrants should also have rights. No they arent citizens but America shouldnt turn them away.Immigrans have come here for a better life. All they want to do is escape bad government and extreme poverty in their home countries. Why in the early 1900s we welcomed immigrants and now we cant do the same thing almost 100 years later?
I certainly find it ridiculous. So a few yards won't get mowed & some restaurants will be closed, big deal. I like Mexicans and welcome them here, but those who are here illegally and think they are not being treated fairly need to think about the many Mexicans still in Mexico waiting on Visas and are trying to come here legally. If the illegal ones are allowed amnesty, then all the others will pushed back in line behind all the illegals. Doesn't seem very fair to me. They are only hurting their own country. I couldn't imagine sneaking into a country and then raising hell for not being treated right.
I think that the illegal immigrants need to realize that if they want to work and live in this country, they need to get in by the front door. Definitely boycott that and send them the message DUH! this is OUR country, and if you aren't going to respect us enough to come in legally, then don't expect us to pander to you. Also, try to learn our language, don't expect us to learn yours.
That's awesome...and yes I agree it's completely acenine. I would write more but I already wrote a freakin novel on some of the other questions I answered today.lol.
The bottom line for this issue is that those whom we elected in the office just go after their own interests!
If it would make their party get more vote, they're for it!
boycotting is an american right. which is why they do it.
it's not only the illegals that are boycotting.. everyone who is in support is doing it.
it's happening. accept it and get over it. they are excercising their right to protest, even if it's something you don't believe it.
There is no common sense nor reasoning in this world today.
We have more than enough problems here in the USA. Serious problems for Americans that have worked hard to get somewhere and this isn't helping our country.

first, students don't just take up desk. they actually learn. this coming from a school teacher who teaches immigrant students everyday... what sort of daily contact do you have w/ immigrant students?
second, "they" don't want you to celebrate the 5th of may because they don't celebrate it themselves. cinco de mayo is not a mexican holiday but an american one! where white people have an excuse to eat mexican food and drink beer!!
we are not stupid. stupid is someone that makes generalizations w/o knowing facts and spewing them w/ xenophobic and racists undertones. if you're mad at immigrants then you are mad at the wrong people... take a look at your government and there lies the problem!

It is dublious of them to think we will join them celebrating anything of theirs. They are the ones that need another drinking holiday, I thought every lunch day was a drinking day for them.
