Windows is my Net server for my Macs. When I restart it I have to setup network bridge afresh each time. Why?

Question: I surf the Net exclusively on my Macs, but via wreless
dial-up connection on my Windows laptop, which acts as
my server. The issues are two-pronged.

1. Whenever I shut down the server (due Windows
fragility issues), I have to set up my Network
connections (Netwrok Bridge) all over again such that it streams the connectivity to my Macs. (This is different from having to refresh dialup connections periodically.) Before that, when I check the network connections on my Mac Mini and G4, I notice that all the IP addresses and other details showing a connection to the server display alright, but always get a "NOT CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET" message when I try to surf. Until I run Network setup on the Windows laptop all over again, that is. What gives?

2. Also, I wanted to share files with all computers (PCs and Macs) on this network, but I don't see anything on the server. What am I doing wrong?

Answer:
You are using a substandard operating system.

Try Linux.
