Windows media player issue?

Question: Hi, I have a Dell XPS M140 laptop with a wireless card. I have a wireless router and I have no problem going on the internet. I have high speed dsl, with the latest version of windows media player but when I go to different sites to watch live streaming video or video clips this comes up on windows media player.

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file because a network error occurred. The server might not be available. Verify that you are connected to the network and that your proxy settings are correct."

I know the problem is on my side because this does not happen to my friends who go to the same websites, and this happens in numerous websites. I was wondering if i can fix this, i think it is someting with the proxy settings thing, but I cant find it. I also have McAfee Security Center and AdAware + Spyspeewer. I dont think these programs have to do with anything. I would appreciate the help. Thanks

Answer:
perhaps start by turning off firewall in security settings??
may have to LOWER security settings or go into McAfee and allow this or other sites to access internet or you can't view it.
