Why will Vista's Media Centre only work properly for a short time ?

Question: Using Vista Ultimate's Media Centre to stream to my XBox 360. 360 will play music, video and photographs perfectly via its' system blade however not so when I use it to access Media Centre. MC will stream photgraphs without a problem. It shows all my music and will play the first song that I choose however when I select a different song I receive an error stating that there is a "firewall or network configuration issue". XBox plays the files without a problem ( which would seem to suggest there is no firewall problem ) so why is MC being awkward ? Any ideas anyone ?

Answer:
I haven't had the opportunity to play with Vista as much, but from what I read. The Vista OS has all ports closed by default.
Ports are something like a transmission line. Your XBox is probably looking for a specific port to cummunicate with your pc with, but your pc has it closed. I would say that you want to speak to a rep over at XBox so they can walk you through what you need in order to have your XBox working properly.
I know I don't provide much help, but at least I hope now you have an idea of how to tackle this one.
I wish I could help more, but I can't. I am not sure if you are running a direct connection to your network, or a wireless through a router. Good luck!

You can go to Yahoo.com or Google.com and search on "Connecting XBox with Vista".

To save you a headache, I would say call a tech at XBox, he can walk you through setting it up your vista, then your router if you're wireless, not sure
My first impression is that Microsoft is waiting for people to complain about it before they will release a fix patch for it.

This tends to be standard operating procedure at MS, rather than release a well-tested and solid product, they let users that are willing to run out and pay good money for untested software test it for them.

I guess from a money making standpoint this makes sense, since even if you tested your software for months and months, as soon as you release it, someone will try doing something you didn't think to test, and you end up having to fix stuff anyway.
