Can help me with windows media 11?

Question: every time I play a video on the internet, it will not play. Or when I am playing a internet playlist from xsao.net the error will read: Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported. If you typed a URL in the Open URL dialog box, try using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:" or "rtsp:"). I cheack the protocol in the option/network box, but in the streaming proxy settings there is nothing there, and it still will not work . Help me?

Answer:
If you can find out the File Type, then the next thing is to get the appropriate Codec.
It may be that the files are not WMP 11 compatible, especially of they are SWF files, they MIGHT need an upgrade in the Macromedia Plugin.
try updating ur media player.sometimes u need another program to back up the problem occured to ur media player..such as hte k-lite codec pack could back up ur media player 11..i dont know if its work for u but it work for me.
Yep, what the other person has said.

But the reality is that Microsoft stuff is crap. Use open source programs like VLC player - they actually work and the people who make them are not interested in making ridiculous profits. They are free, they work, and they leave the mainstream Microsoft stuff for dead.
Try getting the AVI player. it's totaly free and it is just as good a widows Media.
