Vista Home Premuium, Wireless Connection, Xbox 360, Media Center?
Question: So, i have vista home premium on a gateway laptop that came with it installed on. My wireless connection in the bottom right shows a "Fair" connection. I can visibly see the wireless router (netgear wgr614v6, latest firmware) from where i sit. It is less than 15 feet away and in an elevated position. Now when i try to do media center, i get everything set up, but video streaming is damn near impossible. And menu navigation is terribly slow. I go into tune network and see that i am receiving a poor connection, about 2 or 3 of those bars. The only way for me to get "acceptable for tv" ratings is to physically touch my router to my laptop. Things ive tried to fix it. 1. update drivers and firmwares. 2. move router to elevated position. 3. move microwave oven that was already 4 ft away to a position 10+ ft away. 4. reset router with default settings. Any help getting a better connection would be greatly appreciated.
Is the Wireless card (I use a laptop but I use a card) the same NameBrand as the router?
Even though my brother's PC is vista, it has wireless built-in, and I can see the router as well, but withought a card, its as blind as a bat.
I hope this help. If not, I can explain better over Yahoo Messenger!
