Which Xbox 360 compatible networking adapter would be the best as cost is a factor?
Question: I will get the Microsoft one if it is "OMG absolutely the best". If I went with the Logitech Play Link, I could afford a couple more games. I probably will not be streaming media to it. But, I may want to on occasion.

As all devices are Ethernet to WLAN Bridges, any of these should work. And all are recommendable companies.
So this will all work. Furthermore, you will have another USB Port free, if you don't use the Microsoft WLAN adapter.
If you instead want to buy a "normal" WLAN USB Stick, these won't work.
However, the Ethernet to WLAN bridges will work. Have fun!
If your looking to connect wirelessly here is what i did i bought what is called the wireless gaming adapter from linksys for my ps2 but the adapter works just as good like a dream for my 360 and it was alot cheaper than the other. ( check out staples .com that is where i got mine just search linksys wireless gaming adapter
