Anyone know of a good supplement I can take to help support & strengthen my finger nails?

Question: I have a desk job that requires me to type most of the day, I frequent the gym about 4-5 times a week (strength training w/ weights) and with some house work that gets done around the house I'm finding that my nails are chipping a little too often. What can I take to help support and strengthen my nails? BTW, I've never worn acrylics and I file them in one direction.
Sounds crazy, I know. But Knox Brand Gelatin found in grocery stores, has long been the way for stronger nails. (You mix it into drinks and it's tasteless.) Also, there are polishes made (Sally Hansen) to strengthen nails as well as protect them. Wal-Mart has the biggest selection of these.
Take Calcium. They also have strengthening clear nail polish at the drug store your should buy
An old remedy:

cut up some garlic (not too much) into tiny fine pieces.

Put the cut up pieces into clear nail hardener and let sit for a few minutes until the hardener smells like the garlic.

Apply and this will help your nails to strengthen.

There is an element in the garlic that combined with the nail polish will help it to harden the nails.
Next time you get blood work at your doctor make sure they test you for your thyroid count. You may have hypothyroidism if your nails are very thin and brittle. Other then that try extra calcium.
copper. use lotion to keep them supple. if they dry out, it makes them brittle and easier to break. i know what you mean, where i work my hands are constantly getting wet so my nails are a nightmare if i'm not careful. copper is what strengthens hair and nails.
Eat Jell-o. It really works. If you can't stand to eat jell-o you can find gelatin capsules at most drugstores.
Theres a supplement out there called biotin. You can pick it up at GNC, gelatin does help strengthen your nails, and if you can essential fatty acids (this supplement is also really great for your skin) that should do the trick!
prenatal vitamins- they help ur hair and nails grow strong.
Take prenatal vitamins, every woman childbearing age should take them anyway. They contain multiple vitamins so it will be good for your entire body, not just your nails!
