Are women allowed to serve in combat in the U.S. Military?
Question: OK, I know a lot of women are already serving in the Military, mostly in combat support and desk jobs. My question is, are women allowed to serve in combat units? I know women are not admitted into Special Operations Units and women are not allowed to serve in submarines. How about women aviators? Are there any women fighter pilots? Are women allowed to serve in Army and Marine Infantry units in combat? Are women allowed to drive tanks and fly choppers? I am not asking why they are not allowed, I am asking if they are.

not in combat units, but its semantics, granted my unit was based with a combat unit.(so we were together) and did similar ****. the difference was we didnt take or push for positions, but we would hold positions. .also i had the pleasure of working with the Marine lioness'(female group) who worked checkpoints(thats an infatry job) doing pat downs.. thats prety frontline also.. so yea, semantics.. argh. ;)

the only time a women is apart of a combat arms unit like armor, infantry or cavalry, they are part of an attached support unit, and plenty of women have seen combat but are not intentionally put into combat
Women can fly. Used to be one named Misty that flew A-10's in Afghanistan. We always loved to hear her flying overhead. Only woman we heard for months. Thanks for reminding me.
They can't be in infantry, armor or other combat MOS's.
Woman are not yet allowed to fight on the front line. Why? I do not know, I know a lot of women who are capable of it and want to do it (Hey think Joan of Arc, as for aviators look at Amelia Earhart). And they are not allowed to be tankers. Though I agree with the Special Operations rule. Also women in the front line could be captured and sexually abused which is too horrid to risk.
Hey, 23 women were awarded the Combat Action Ribbon for service in the Persian Gulf War because they were engaged by Iraqi troops.
no women are not allowed to serve in direct combat roles. i dont think they can fly helicopters. they cannot be in tanks either.

There are Women Pilots. and to answer your question they arent letting women be in combat patrols. they do see combat sometimes but not intentionally. im sure once they make it so women can be drafted too then they will beable to be in combat units. i havent heard of any women tank drivers. and choppers i think they are starting to let women fly choppers
Many women have served in supporting units in the US military; however, none of them have been Combat Units. They are a very important part to the support units. However, during an ambush, or circumstances like a fire-fight, where U.S. military women are present, they do get involved. They fire their weapons just like the men do.
Yes there are woman pilots, no there is no woman infantry, no there are no woman armoured vehicle operaters, just think of no women in the infantry, armoured, or special forces divisions of the military and you rset.
Early in ww2 there WERE women fighter pilots, They were shot down over england. the women here in the states had a fit and so the military shut down the program. They were part of the 'army air corps' back then. Ever since no woman was purposely placed in a combat zone.

Yes, women can serve in combat units and in direct combat. There are plenty of female aviators...two are now flying with the Thunderbirds. There is even a woman flying the F-22. The answer to your question is YES. Thats a FACT.
