Does anyone have any remedies for rib pain in pregnancy! Ouch!!?
Question: I am 33 weeks pregnant with my first and spend all day sitting at my desk at work. I have proper lumbar support on my chair but my ribs are killing me - could this be due to posture as i try to sit as upright as i can! please help!
Answer:
Yes, you need to be lying down more, sitting up right in your desk is not the ideal position while you are pregnant, so it is normal you feeling that pain, since you have carrying so much more weight on you. You need to relax and lay down more.
lay down and relax
My Wife had the same problem. She says warm baths with radox helped.
dont take anything luv- this is your baby ! Your organs are constantly moving about to accomodate the little one so chances are they are pushing against your ribs ! Just lie down and breathe easily when it happens to get relief, as long as it isnt in the centre of town !
You ribs tend to open slightly to allow the baby more room to grow. I have 14 month old twins and my ribs killed me from about 20 weeks - I used to get on all fours with my bottom in the air to try to shift the babies position (not really the thing to do at work though!!)
I am 26 weeks and I feel like I am having the biggest baby in the world! She satys under my ribs! My doctor says its her kicking them or pushing on them. Sitting all day doesnt help either and thats excatly what I do at work!! All I can do is change my position!
good luck hon , i spent 2 months with my babys Foot shoved up in my ribs ..lol
Try doing some pelvic rocking and see if that helps any. It could encourage baby into a position that is more comfortable for you.
Yes tell that bairn to stop kicking you in the ribs.
Try putting a big cushion in front of you if you can. It sounds as though you are carrying low and need some extra support. When you go for your next anti natal mention it to the nurse, she will have better ideas than I.
Good luck and take care.
most likely it's the baby wanting ALL the space he/she can get! It's crowded in there, and things are likely to get moved around and squished! take a break & try lying on your left side, it's suppose to help, Try a heating pad or ice - I know the heat works best for me. Once the baby drops (hopefully around 37-38th week) it should alleviate that... but then plan on running to the bathroom more often! Best of luck!
Find the best position for your posture. But I had this too. You'll feel much better four months after the birth - and thats only because your body will have eased leaking everywhere, and your baba will be in a sleeping routine and smiling, gurgling; before teething!
Ha. All the hard work starts AFTER pregnancy, and doesn't stop for 18 years, with worry added for life.
Congratulations anyway. x
i am 36 wks pregnant, and i have been having rib pain for many wks. i have found that lying down is the only thing that works for me.
good luck!
Yes i had that, my son was all over, you are towards the end and it is getting tight in theor for your baby, you need to lay down or move around what ever seems to get that little one out of the position he/she is currently in cause his/her little feet are probably hitting your rib cage.
Good luck i have been their sweeti, not too much longer

P leave is allowed 50 days before expected date.
Take advantage, go home have a rest and feel better.
it won't last much longer, i promise! soon the baby will be dropping right down into the pelvis and you will be able to breath a bit easier!
The rib pains that you are experiencing are probably from the way that the baby is positioned and there is not much you can do other than gently try and push her/him down. My daughter has not only had her foot in my rib the last few weeks but she has also been laying on my kidney, causing me horrible back pain. Good luck and congrats on your baby!!
A lot of times your ribs are hurting is probaly because the baby is poking it with it's arm, leg or head. I had the same problem. The only thing I could find to help me was to lay on my side or try a hot bath.
It could be the little rider has planted a foot there. The first baby that my sis in law carried did that about that time and the foot stayed until birth, ouch! She would push and push and he would stick it back there as soon as her hand was gone.
stop working and have lots of hot baths . PS . Good luck
i had similar pain and also had to sit upright. my problem was caused by having darling daughter wedge her backside under my ribs. Up until the final few weeks I could dislodge her by giving her a bit of a shove which was some relief but after that it was futile as there was no room for her to move! You have my sympathy but not long to go now - good luck for the big day.
