I am having severe dsl slow down. what could it be from?

Question: i live in brooklyn ny...when i run speed tests i am getting about 300 kbps when i should normally be getting 3000. i know its not my linksys router because when i connect the modem directly to the computer its the same speed. i know its not the modem because i bought a different modem and same speed. its not the computer because i tested it on 3 different computers. what could it possibly be? once in a while it will be normal speed for a couple of hours... but then it will slow down again and web pages take forever to load.

It could just be that all of the bandwidth is being sucked up by someone else or a buisness. Tough luck. try using it at like 7pm-7am to avoid that.
sounds like it's an isp problem...

do you use cable? are you living in an apartment? if so then it could simply be a bandwidth sharing issue.
Spyware/adware? Slowdowns could be happening when your computer is being used as an ad server. Happened to me about a year ago. I had mad outbound traffic and couln't figure it out. I ran Spy Sweeper and found 11 malicious programs that were leaching memory and resources, causing my dsl to run slowly.
It's probably your wireless router, look at how much the routers distribute. It may be your computer. I recommend you to call someone from the company your computer is from or the wireless router company and ask.
Sometimes you have to shut the dsl modem and router down and wait five minutes and then power it up again. To reset both of them.
