I'm not covered by my mothers health care plan anymore. What do I do?

Question:
I'm out of school at the moment, preparing to transfer to another one August 27th of this year. In the meantime, I'll be uninsured because my involvement in her plan depends on actual full time enrollment rather than just being accepted. Please advise.
get a job
You may be able to purchase a short-term "catostrophic" care package for a few months. It won't be cheap - probably a couple hundred a month - but it will bridge the gap if ther's a major problem.

Other than that, avoid un-nescessary risks, and don't get anyone pregnant.

Talk to your mother's insurance agent/broker for details on pricing.
What state do you live in?
In Minnesota, there is MinnCare for uninsured people.
But this is a fairly democratic, take-care-of-folks state.
Check with your state health department.

Also, your parents probably were given an option to purchase Cobra insurance. When they got the letter that told them you were no longer eligible, the letter typically would describe who to call. Check back with your parents.
Purchase a health policy or get a job that provides it (good luck).
Get a job or get back in school!!
see if you can get a cobra plan to cover you for right now, nothing big just to cover emergency room visits and such! because trust me you don't want to be caught with out coverage and a need to be in the hospital, my mom's insurance company tried to drop me with 15,000 dollars in emergency bills! and still charge my mom a premium for me while they weren't paying. I hate insurance companies! but yeah get on a cobra plan that will just cover emergencies! Until your either in school and can be on a schools provided health plan or get a job that provides it! Also explaining to the insurance company your situation and giving them proof that you will be fulltime status in august can help if you talk to the wrong person, thats what i had to do, I just called and explained why I wasn't in school at that time was because I was transferring and when I would be back in school provided proof and I was added back to the policy. Also some insurance companies will cover you while not it school as long as you parents can provide proof that you are still their dependent!
