Question:
I distribute a medical device for use to treat depression, anxiety, insomnia, and pain. It is FDA cleared and is only available to the general public through order of a doctor or a licensed health care practitioner. I'm in the state of Ohio. Can a social worker write an order for one?
Answer:
I'm a licensed social worker and in Idaho (where I work) only nurse practitioners, physician's assistants and doctors can write such orders. I would say it is grey area at best.
no health care practioners work under the direction of a MD. social workers can only reccomend this device to their dept. heads for review.
No, not if that's their only credentials.
