It would be a great benefit to a great number of people. Some Doctors, HMO's and some private insurance companies won't like it because they will not be able to gouge people.
I think it's a good idea.
I think that unless some solution is found to slow down the growth of health care costs, it is inevitable.
It sounds good in theory, but I belive it would end up being a great sham. I t really needs to be put to the test.
We should absolutely have universal health care. Rich people have it and should be made to give up some of their wealth for the betterment of the poor. Why do we continue to protect rich people?? They should pay at least 50% of their income and it should go directly to the poor and homeless. Even with giving 50% they still would be rich.
Yes, universal health care would be great for America. The problem is that conservatives are deathly afraid of anything that resembles socialism and they will fight the idea tooth and nail. I never understood how they can be soooo against any idea that barrows from ideologies outside their own.
Universal government-administered health care in the US would almost certainly degrade the quality of health care in the country, like it has everywhere else.
It depends on what it means. People on Medicaid get health care, but usually can't find an Md, and their treatment is at the sole discretion of what Medicaid will approve. In many instances, like a physical, Medicaid pays less that the cost of doing the paper work!
If this is a means, for other governments to pick up our tab, I am against it. Corporations do not pay their share, even those who have no-bid government contracts and use illegals as slave labor to maximize their profits!
I think everyone should have access to medical care at some level. For a country that is one of the wealthiest in the world. to have the highest infant morbidity and fatality rates in western civilization, is a complete indictment of our country and our health care system!
Take a good look at the countries that already have this before making up your mind.
Rich people are probably going to stay rich & the rest of us are going to stay in our brackets. BUT...the only people who are going to be really effected in the pocket book are the middle income people. It takes a LOT or tax money to make this work. Some countries pay up to 50% of their gross into their tax system. Do you really think that employers are going to double their worker's pay to make up the difference? Or that retailers are going to go down on the prices of their goods & services?
Its a great idea.. Look how well it works every else in the world. Oh wait it doesn't! Lets hear from someone that is from a country that has it and tell us how great it is!!
Universal health care is rationed health care. If you think it's expensive now, just wait until you see how much it costs once it's "free."
It is a great idea...and here is the way to afford it. We get rid of Congress/Representatives retirement/social security plan and give them regular social security like the rest of us...did you know that if a senator makes 250k a year and retires he gets that 250k a year for the rest of his life? Even if he served on year. Think about how much tax dollars americans could save...and we could use it to afford our own healthcare system.
It would be an absolute negative for this Country. Name one government agency that runs well and doesn't waste billions of dollars... More choices in health care will always be better the government making the choices for you.
