Universal health care is the inverse of compassion. The very poorest in this country get free and better medical care than the wealthiest in countries with national health care systems. How often do you see an American going to Europe for health care? How often do you see a European coming to America for health care. Now I want you to make a fist and knock on the side of your head three times.

Everyone does get health care in America. My mother is a case worker nurse, and it's her job to see that all the poor get some sort of help. My daughter is pregnant, our insurance wouldn't cover her, so she's on medicaid. Her health needs are totally covered, nothing out of her pocket until she gets on her feet. Not only that, but illegals get health care as well. All they have to do is go to the emergency room, and they get care. Why do you think we pay 10 dollars for an aspirin when in the hospital? It's to pick up their slack. Illegal aliens are a big strain on everyone in America.
The last thing you want is government running Health Care.
Just make all insurance payments 100% tax deductable for workers and employers.
That way government pays for it but has no say about it.

Charity has never consisted of having the government forcibly take your money. Charity is about personal donations done voluntarily. And the data shows that it isn't liberals who are the biggest voluntary donators to charity.

No conservative wants anyone who truly can't afford it to go without health care. That being said, universal health care includes those who can afford it, and there is no reason for someone who can afford health care to have it provided by the government. Conservatives also believe in creating systems that take care of themselves without the incentive for those who would try to take advantage of the system and leach off the benefits. Additionally, they want a system that doesn't have the unintended consequence of driving up prices and limiting access. Your premise is false because it assumes that conservatives don't want the same result as liberals just because they want to do it a different way. I think that there are many issues where conservatives and liberals want the same result but just have different ideas of how to achieve that result.
Folks who are truly poor do not pay a dime--this is a fact; others who are among the working 'poor' can give up their big screen tv's, digital cable and cell phone service and buy their own low-cost insurance that is readily availble to all in need. Everyone else can do the same. Pop that, weasel.

Universal(or socialist) medicine has been a failure anywhere it has been used. We are not a socialist country. Maybe if you realized that you, would stop expecting others to pay your way.
A true Christian would not expect others to pay their way, but they would greatly appreciate it if someone did. Also if Democrats would stop taxing us to death, maybe everyone could afford health care. And for those who couldn't their would be groups(religious, community, etc) who would be willing to help them out. People are willing to give if you give them a chance. But our government wants to force them. Quit blaming people for being successful.

As a "Christian," I know that He taught us to teach people to fish instead of just giving them a fish. To teach them, allows them to then feed themselves for the rest of their lives. To simply give them what they perceive to be needed this instant, helps them not.
Most of us tried to plan ahead, some of us made alternate plans incase the first failed. I have a health care plan. I planned ahead. So, my (already too high) tax dollars should no go even higher so that I can support those who didn't plan or plan very well?
Consider this. We alrady have a "Universal" education plan. Whether you have kids or not, you pay taxes towards public education. Have you seen the products they're turning out? Kids either are prepared for university life, or they are sent out into the work force to do what? Work at minimum wage jobs? They have no training toward a future. How's the "Universal" education system working for you thus far? And minimum wage was NEVER intended to be a means of support. Rather, a teething tool for high school kids to learn about finance and get into the work force.
Bigger and more government IS not what this country needs. Social programs such as your "Universal" health care plan only serve to enslave the masses. Creating a society solely dependent upon Uncle Sammy for their every little thing. It removes responsibility and accountability for the choices we make. It promotes slovenliness and mediocrity. It removes competition and undermines capitalism.
Every hear/read the story of the tax collector and the Pharasee praying at the alter? The tax collector was a hated man, he humbly bowed before the alter and gave his tithing of 10%. The Pharasee, also bowing and praying before the alter, lamented to God that HE should pray to never be like that heathen tax collector. He was so full of self-righteousness, he forgot that what he'd been teaching also applies to himself. So, while you're so busy slamming those of us who believe in personal responsibility, you only come across as a pius, self-righteous idiot.
There is no good reason to create a Universal Healthcare scheme. The government already provides Universal Healthcare to veterans at Walter Reed and that's the type of Healthcare we'll get if such a scheme were passed.
Besides that, there is a commandment in the Bible that says "Thou shalt not steal." Taxes are a euphemism for extortion (which is what it would be called if a private individual went around demanding taxes). Extortion is a form of stealing. Taxation simply is stealing. To accept tax dollars is to accept stolen property.
If people wish to provide free healthcare for others, they can do so voluntarily and without the government. Anybody can set up a charity that will pay for the healthcare of anybody who is in need.
Few people would advocate going to a car dealership and stealing a car if you can't afford one on the basis that the car dealer has more cars than he could possibly need. However, that is exactly what many people want the government to do.
Maybe we see it as a seed in the growth of socialism and communism .
