Question:
4 years ago I had a major abdominal surgery. Because of infection, it had to heal from the inside out. Turned into septic shock. My question is this: I have a lot of loose skin and the muscles have "let go" on my abdomen. Should my Alberta,Canada health care pay for the procedure to fix this or would they still consider it cosmetic surgery?
you would have to see your own doctor to find out . much of this i am sure is up to how he words things.
In my opinion, because the muscles have "let go" from your abdomen, that is an issue that should be resolved. The loose skin would probably be considered "cosmetic", but the issue with your muscles should be treated and covered by the health care system. Your best bet is to see your doctor and call the Alberta Health Care line (see link for phone numbers)
It will be considered cosmetic surgery most likely. I'm very sorry.
