Free health care for everyone.?

Question:
We one of the richest countries in the world, and its ashamed we do not have free health care for everyone. For example:Eurpoean countries have it for their citizen and we don't. I have a disability, I'm unable to work , cannot afford cobra it's too expensive and the system states that I'm not eligible for health care benefits because I receive S1000 monthy for social security benefits which cannot cover my rent, food, doctors treatment and medications. This is ashamed. I thank you for your time in this matter.
Sincerely,

Answer:
Hey, guess what - European countries don't have free health care for everyone, either. Their residents pay about 65% of their income in tax. They wait months or years for services, and the ones that can AFFORD to pay for medical treatment, come to the states for it.

A friend of mine in Canada has a deaf child, she's got an 18 month wait to get fitted for a hearing aid. Oh, yeah, free health care is worth what you pay for it.

Not to mention, most of the countries with it are struggling to do basic services, and the systems are early imploding.

You don't work, so what do YOU care if *I* have to pay 65% income tax to pay for insurance that can't get me in for 12 months? Hell, would you care if I had to pay 95% of my income in taxes? Althea, you don't realize, "government" means people that pay taxes. That's me & my family. GOVERNMENT doesn't pay for ANYTHING. It's the MOST EXPENSIVE, LEAST EFFECTIVE way to pay for anything. $.15 on the dollar goes to the benefit, $.85 on the dollar goes to "administration".

Thank God you're in the United States, where you get $1,000 a month. AND you have a place to rent! AND you get to see a doctor!!! And if you wanted to, you could get $4 prescriptions from Walmart and Target. AND you have a computer and internet access, or can go to an air conditioned library where you have FREE computer and internet access.

Only in America. We have the RICHEST poor people in the world.
So next time you want to see a doctor for a sore throat, would you rather have 20 people in line before you or 3?
As long as I had money to pay for rent and food, I think i'd be alright with having to wait for 20 people. There are some places to help you pay for food/bills. If you have a kid, WIC usually helps you with food. I know there are many free food giveaways in some cities. Sorry I cannot be of more help.
