What Doctor?
Question:
1) I just got over having Thyroid Cancer, and I'm taking Synthroid (thyroid replacement because they took my thyroid out) so i know I have to go to my thyroid doctor to get those levels checked.
2) I want to go on birth control (but afraid of how it will act with the synthroid because your thyroid regulates hormones and Birth control is all hormones)
3) Xanax- for my anxiety
4) I want to get checked for STDs (with a new bf)
Sooooo whats the least amount of DR's i can do this with??
Can my general doctor do it all or do i have to go to my gyno too?
Answer:
Tom Baker is my fav, but I still appreciate the ornery Colin Baker from time to time.
Basically any of them besides Pertwee, that hack.
most doctors will do gyno end of deal if ur comfortable with it
you need to go an ob-gynecologist
Birth control will not interfere with your synthroid.
I can only really answer #1. Your thyroid doctor you will be seeing often until your dose is properly regulated. The doctor may wish you to have radio-active iodine treatment. May wish for you to go for sonograms on your neck.
After all that is done you probably can go to a GP, 2x a year to have blood test in case your medication dose needs to be changed. Also a periodic sonogram maybe every other year.
I think you should talk to your thyroid doctor about this, every doctor has different ideas on how you should be treated. I am just a patient, I have seen 4 specialists already and they are all different.
