Need advice on Individual Health Care Plans?

Question:
Myself and 3 other women I work with will be losing our jobs in a few weeks because the company we work for is going out of business. It turns out that we had innacurate info from our HR person about our continuing health care and we are now facing some very expensive plans through Blue Cross Blue Shield with a short time to decide. Can someone reccomend good individual health coverage or a way we can access information on it? Much appreciated!
If you have the time to do some comparison shopping for individual health plans, you might contact your State Board of Insurance for a list of health insurers in your area. Most individual plans require proof of good health (i.e. no cancer, heart disease, diabetes, obesity, etc). If you/and or your co-workers have health issues that would prevent you from qualifying, there is always your state High Risk Pool for medical care. The premiums are steep but at least you'd have coverage until you could find another job with health insurance provided. Good Luck to all of you.
