Anyone have a good, no cost plan to stop smoking??.?

I have been smoking for too many years. I know the health risks, so please don't sermonize. If I quit for even one day, I am always thinking about that first cigarette. It is not the craving, per se, but the thought of the first cigarette and after having the first one, I have many more. Does anyone have personal plans that have worked for them, and if they worked, wanna share them?

Read "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking" by Allen Carr. I have no idea how it works, but as I was reading it, I lost all desire to smoke. I personally know at least two other people who read it. No stop smoking aids, no pills, no cravings, no nothing. It just works.
Sorry, I don't smoke but have heard some people will have vegetable sticks on hand to eat in place of having a cigarette. I've also heard of people chewing gum. I think the biggest obstacle is getting of the routine of smoking. The first thing my Mom does when she gets up is light a cigarette. You have to be able to fill this time in with something else. If you can't talk to your doctor about this, you might go to your local drug store and talk with the pharmacist. They have literature and advice free for the taking.

helped me.its a huge support system. I stopped cold turkey. It was Very hard the first few days. Everytime I wanted a cigarette I would just keep saying later.Ill have one later. A craving lasts only 5 minutes, you can do anything for 5 minutes. Then I would keep busy and as the days passed the cravings got further and further apart. Then I would check quitnet to see how much money I saved by not smoking.Ive saved over 1100 dollars so far!
Stop buying cigarettes.
Take a walk through your local intensive care unit, or spend some time volunteering at a hospice. Seeing the results works much better than being preached to.
