I need Health insurance..?
Question:
Does anyone know of any really good plans that I can get on? I really don't want to take too much more time without insurance in case something happens with my wife and I. Any webistes in the US or independent agencies would be very helpful
Answer:
You will not be able to get an insurance plan with the same benefits any cheaper on your own. However, you may not need all the benefits. With your group policy you are paying for the lower deductible and the maternity benefits as well as other benefits which may not be needed. Do you actually need the lower deductible and the maternity?
Vist a local independent agent. This person knows the plans available in your area and can find a plan that fits your needs. You may not be able to find anything you want for less but then again you might. The independent agent doesn't charge you anything for the service.
Be very wary of medical discount cards. They are not regulated by the Department of Insurance nor do the people that sell them need to be licensed. This means you have little recourse when you have problems with the plan. If you are tempted by the low price and claims of “save up to 80%” be aware that very few doctors actually take these cards. It does you little good if you have to drive 4 hours to find a doctor that will accept the card. One state couldn’t find any doctors in that state that took the card and only one dentist who was on probation for unlawful activities so they banned the sale of the card. See this link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/wes... for more information. Many other states are starting to ban these cards.
Before signing up with any discount plan get a list of doctors. If they won’t give you a list consider it to be a scam. Call the doctors on the list to make sure they’re still taking the card (many don’t even know that they’re listed as a provider) and that they’re accepting new patients.
Hey man,
go to ehealthinsurance.com, they have hundreds of plans to fit just about any need. The typical carriers are Blue Cross, Aetna, United Healthcare and Unicare. Be careful of Unicare, they have the really low cost, but you get what you pay for.
Good luck.

I go through Ameriplan. It's not exactly insurance but... it does the same as insurance for me. And it's so much less. Just check it out, the site I went to is below. Best of Luck.

It’s a discount card, saving you up to 80% off service for medical, Dental, Vision, and Prescriptions. Just an example, my husband was looking into eye surgery, and his doctor was charging $5,000, we showed him our card and the price when down to $2,700. It’s great for those, like us, who can’t afford traditional insurance.
There’s a new company offering low cost individual health plans in Texas for young, reasonably healthy people. You buy into a plan at a super low cost with fixed benefits that will cover the typical activities and preventative care of a healthy person. Then, if something catastrophic happens, you have the option to get additional levels of coverage, even AFTER the event. A healthy male 25-years-old (and under) would pay under $100 a month for basic coverage. Check them out at http://www.precedent.com - Even if you’re not in Texas, my understanding is that they’ll be offering plans in additional states soon. Plus, they’re backed by a traditional insurance company that’s been around for over 70 years, so even though they’re new on the scene, they have a solid reputation behind them. I hope you find what you need!
