Health care expenditures are 1.4 trillion dollars per year , what family can afford their share $4,666.00?
Question:
A Family of 4 would have to pay $18,664.00 The average income in America is slightly over $35,000.00
Since nothing is free and , we all know this, health care is just to expensive for many people to afford period at the current costs .
Think of it this way too .
This is an annual expenditure each year $4,666.00 and does not go away .
In ten years if we average it out the cost per person is $46,666.00
Your share does not disappear of this amount spent annually .
"Bankruptcy " The leading cause they say is medical expenses forcing people into Bankruptcy .
"The paradox is that the costliest health system in the world performs so poorly. We waste one-third of every health care dollar on insurance bureaucracy and profits while two million people go bankrupt annually and we leave 45 million uninsured.
So 1/3 of that $4,666.00 is $1,555.00 reducing the expense to $3,111.00 .
I have to wonder if we can reduce this again . more to come next??
Answer:
Don't forget that its growing about 3 times faster than general inflation. Costs will go up even faster when its "free" and demand skyrockets.
healthcare costs are a mystery to all as soon as people start learning about them they change the way things are done.
over here in the UK we have 'free' healthcare but we also have an organization at the top called N.I.C.E who decide on what treatments are available, they do this not by effectivness but by cost. there are drugs out there to treat cancer and blindness that UK doctors cant prescribe because they are not consider cost effective.
i've heard stories of people in the states being charged $20 for a bandage maybe if healthcare was'nt run to make a profit for a few then maybe more people could afford it
Our health care system is a joke. It is piss poor. And what many don't, know but will find out later, is more and more of them and their parents will lose EVERYTHING trying to prolong the inevitable.
I get so sick and tired of the ins/ama/pharm backed talking heads saying it is fine it can't be changed blah blah. we are Americans and that is what we do. We use reason, logic, and innovation to solve hard problems.
To answer the question, only those who make about 100k plus a year can afford that type of expense.
Maybe if we did not allow the health care industry to contribute billions in campaign funds to politicians, the cost would go way down.
So you want to force us all to pay even if we are healthy? That is what socialized medicine would be. You would enforce that each family pay that amount in taxes whether they need the services to that amount or not.
Don't you think we would all be better served by a non-profit organization that takes tax deductible donation to help those with extraordinary medical expense? We could meet the needs of those in need with out sending money to a government that is notorious for mishandling funds such as social security.
So what do you propose? Pushing our best and brightest citizens away from the medical field by socializing it? That would eventually deteriorate our quality of services to the level experienced in Canada, France and other countries with socialized medicine - It is horrible.
Adding incentives to allow small businesses (who employ the most workers) to offer it as a benefit would be a win win. If it is offered and you refuse it, don't whine to me about your expenses. I operate a small business, we offer great benefits, my average wage to my employees is $15.00 per hour and even though the cost to a single employee is only $35.00 per week for med, life, dental, vision, ltd, std , I still have some who refuse it. That is ignorant, I pay a LOT of money to offer these benefits and could use some assistance in paying for it through the business.
Small business employs the most people and can not afford to offer benefits. If people are working they need to pay their way.
Well, I'm one of those 45 million uninusred. We pretty much are on a "self-insurance" plan, although I do know it would hit us pretty hard if we had a major medical expense come our way.
There is a solution though. By uniting our voices together as one, we can demand that our government provide free medical health care to ALL. It is explained in detail how this plan can work realistically at the link below:
http://www.wwunited.org/mmpr/plan_detail...
All that is needed is for enough of us to sign the petition.
With this plan, everyone is eligible to receive a Medicaid card – regardless of income. Simply by being born into this world, EVERYONE is automatically covered by Medicaid with no deductibles to pay. Someday, and maybe soon if we demand it, this will be the norm.
I believe it can and will work.
