Sexual health knowledge?

Question:
if i go to my doctor, to talk about std/sti testing, and they refer me to a gum clinic elsewhere, or i get tested there, will my parents be told? does the privacy and confidentiallity only concern youth clinics and family planning clinics?

Answer:
Privacy is 100% guarenteed! In fact if you go to an STD clinic as a self referal, rather than a GP referal, they do not even notify your GP that you have attended unless you wish them to do so.
no the clinic should keep your details private
i dont think they d get told no but im afraid i not 100percent sure x good luck
They do not tell your parents u have caught crabs or what ever u have caught just go & they will give u the stuff to clear it up
I would hope sincerely that youre confidentiality is respected would think only in exceotional circumstances should doctor tell you parents about this matter thank you
I have worked in a sexual health clinic - no way will they ever tell your parents! Don't worry...! Go for it
no every thing should be kept private
Dr Frank is quite correct. Self-refer to the GUM clinic.

(To be honest, and GPs do a great job overall, GUM is better as they know what they are doing re STIs; you wouldn't get your GP to check your teeth so don't go to them for specific advice about STIs. Go straight to the experts. Most GUM clinics have drop-in sessions so you won't have to wait for an appointment, which could be 2/4/6 weeks - it is supposted to be 48hrs - away given the current state of GUM services in the UK.)
The service at Genito-urinary medicine (GUM) is free and your identity will be kept as confidential.
Please see the web page for more details on STDs.
No your doctor should keep any information about you private. Go directly to a GUM clinic if you are worried, they are also confidential and you dont have to give them any of your personal details.
no they are not aloud to tell them, they will try to persuade you to talk to your parents, and they will give you lectures on safe sex, good luck
