What is the most interesting subject in the field of health?

Question:
I'm interested in the field of health and I want to know what I should plan on focusing once I get into college. I'm still in high school but it doesn't hurt to plan ahead for a bit.

Answer:
First, congrats on knowing what field you are interested in. The healthcare field is rewarding and with the baby boomers nearing retirement, is a demanding field. I dont know what level of 'brains' you have, but you could consider anything from a cna to a physician to the physical therapist. if you dont want to be in college long, cna is a good route, and can be started while still in high school. There is plenty of patient contact. Physicians learn a lot about the health field, but the patient contact is limited. I recommend looking into various occupations and considering some job shadowing.
I can only speak for myself, but homeopathy, alternative medicines, herbology and natural healing methods have interested me for years. At one time, I was skeptical but now I swear by it. Thing is though, nature has provided many different plants with "healing" properties, so it would follow that another avenue you could pursue is finding "cures" for health and dietary problems. That means that you could also become a physician.

As a professional Mentor/Spiritual Counsellor too, I often recommend certain homeopathic remedies for clients (mostly for depressive states), with positive results. The "healthcare" area of expertise is *always* rewarding; in the past I worked with people in wheelchairs, with mental health problems, and paraplegics. And it was very rewarding indeed, to be able to help them insofar as I could - even with simple conversation. This may not be for you, but I thought I'd share anyways.
I think you pick a good field and i know that you will be very good in the health.
I used to be a healthcare provider and help the older people in there homes and really like this kind of work. i hope that you do great with this field and Cna are not a bad way to start then you can work on nursing too
Psychology is a great field and it is very intriguing! This is a health field that is more on the mental side than the physical. So if you are looking into being involved with peoples guts, go with the psyical side and if you want to be involved with peoples minds go with the mental side. There are so many different Psychology courses you can take and so many different types of careers you can do with a Psychology degree. I am pursuing a Master's Degree in School Psychology! Good Luck, I hope you find what your looking for!
