A day in the life of an Airforce Health Services Administrator?

Question:
I will soon finish my degree in health services administration and plan on going into the AF as an officer with it...Does anyone know what a day in the job entails? Please describe...

Answer:
very simply, its people, paper, and putting out fires. Managing the troops that work for you, moving the reports up and down, and dealing with the daily uprisings...whos out sick, whos not getting along with who, who got busted for DUI...training schedules, TDY commitments, the list is endless...AF is the best choice though.
Much the same as the civilian world I expect. The only difference I could see is that your patients will all be covered under their military health plan. The dependents may be a little different, but for the most part you won't have to worry about costs in that area. I'm sure you will have your standard number of days per procedure, etc...etc.etc. My friend is a CEO administrator, and I'm prior Air Force.
I just wrote two paragraphs and it got lost when I could not submit it. It was good. Bottom line is make and appt with the Chief of Clinic or the Officer in Chg of Administration and visit with him...they'll be helpful and you will be surprised and worth your while. Good luck.
