How should the US provide affordable health care for it's people with out hurting the economy?

Question:

Answer:
make health care free and let the doctors do without for a change.
National healthcare, like in the UK. They take a little money out of everybody's paycheck to pay for it. They could use what they hold out now for medicare/ss taxes coz we wouldn't need it anymore.
Simple answer: The US shouldn't. All you have to do is look at England or Canada. They have free, or nearly free, health care. But the amount of time they must wait before actually having surgery (if it's required) is ridiculous! I think that the cost of health care in the US is a bit absurd, and that could be tamed (doctors, etc.). But the cost of prescriptions is understandable. It takes millions of dollars to come up with a new drug that is FDA approved.

So would you rather have free prescriptions and health care, or a possible cure for cancer? I think the choice is simple.
National health-care is the best choice. That will never happen though because insurance companies get too much money. they keep the right wheels in Washington going. If everyone payed a little bit out of their taxes then everyone would have free health-care just like Canada, and the price of drugs would have to go down.
Right now the insurance companies are charging people who aren't sick "for protection" in case they get sick. and if they never get sick, they never get that money back. So if the medical profession is making so much money, why are prescription medications so high?
Not to be to flip, but I think that's easy. First off, stop the fiscal hemmoraging of dollars into Iraq (read get out)and spend that money. Second, develop a system used in other, more evolved, socialistic countries. Don't tell me those systems are not any good. Canadians and Europeans are not dying en masse. In fact, I believe I heard that they have lower infant mortality than the US.

Oh, and kicking Bush's a** out of office wouldn't be a bad start, either.

On the bright side, atleast Bush has his head buried in the ground deep enough he can see firsthand what's up in China.
A few things and it's not what you might usually hear from the usual people on the health care debate:

- BIG PROBLEM- There just aren't enough doctors. The AMA keeps the number of accredited medical schools to a bare minimum. They do this to have a shortage of doctors. It's all supply and demand.
- Tort reform- Lawyers like John Edwards are the scum of the earth and keep medical care expensive for everyone.
- Pharmaceutical industry- The big two parties are in bed with them.
- Allow alternative providers more freedom to practice. In Britain, Homeopathic physicians are on equal footing with MD's. Allow a wider choice of doctors than MD's and DO's. Peop,e can make educated choices if given the chance.
Privately. The government shouldn't have anything to do with paying medical expenses
It shouldn't. Why should my money, stolen from me by the government in the form of taxation, be useed to pay for someone I don't know's medical expenses?
