Question:
My siblings and I believe she's had some mini-strokes lately, and besides being forgetful, we're concerned that she's no longer safe to drive. She refuses to go to see a specialist (neurologist recommended by her family doctor) because she doesn't think there is anything wrong with her. My Dad is in a nursing home with dementia and his disease began very much like these symptoms in my mom. Help! She can get very nasty and belligerent with her daughters and has a mean streak a mile long.
Answer:
Having gone through an intervention myself for a loved one, I have to say that above all, let her know that you all want the best for her, and you're scared for her. Let her know how this situation has effected your life. (i.e., your worry for her is effecting your sleep, etc). Good luck, I hope it goes well.
